How It Started

My name is Brandin Stroy, and my love for bass started early. One of my uncles used to dress me up as Bootsy Collins—glasses, cape, and a Mickey Mouse guitar in hand—then crank up some Parliament-Funkadelic. Looking back, I think I was made to love music and destined to become a bass player.

From Passion to Purpose

In 2001, I was introduced to the fundamentals of guitar construction by my tech and mentor, Mike Nedd of Nedd Guitars. That experience set me on a journey of exploring design, refining techniques, and ultimately discovering my voice as a builder.

Talon Guitars was born from that process—but it's grown into something deeper. Every instrument is more than just a tool. It’s a chance to connect with players on a deeper level, to ask what drives them, and to explore what their instrument says about their story.

The Meaning Behind Talon

The Talon Guitars logo is inspired by the Secretary Bird—a creature known for its boldness, precision, and ability to stomp out snakes. It reminds me of Jesus, who came to crush the head of the serpent and give us hope beyond this life.

That symbolism is woven into every build. I want each Talon bass to reflect clarity, strength, and purpose—not just in tone, but in spirit. A Talon isn’t just built to sound good—it’s built to spark something: conversation, connection, identity.
